First Year Writers

This spring WCRX Production staff and the First Year Writing Program are again embarking on our successful collaboration to create great radio.  The Create: The Essay Project invites instructors to incorporate this essay writing project into their lesson plan, inviting students to submit a personal essay to be produced by the WCRX Production Practicum students to air on Chicago’s Underground.

Be sure to tune in to WCRXFM later this Spring for Radio Graffiti this spring to hear the featured essays along side works from Columbia College Chicago radio majors, Audio Arts & Acoustics and Journalism Majors.

Calling for your Super Bowl predictions

And then there were four…

Deep Dish Sports wants YOUR Super Bowl XLVI picks. With the populars — Packers and Saints — out of the picture, we’re giving everybody a mulligan. New England is now the odds-on favorite to bring home the Lombardi Trophy, but can Bill Belichick’s makeshift defense continue to make ends meet? Is it finally time for Joe Flacco and the Ravens? Will Jim Harbaugh lead San Fran to the big game in his first year? Or does Eli Manning have other ideas? Weigh in on the poll question and share your comments below.

Holiday Cheer

For nearly 25 years, Comedy Sportz has been battling for your laughter, making the group Chicago’s longest running “Short-Form” improv show.  From their theater in the Lakeview neighborhood, Comedy Sportz’s teams battle each other for audience laughter.

Rance Rizzutto, is a member of the ensemble and joins us to talk about the group and its holiday offerings.

Terri Hemmert has been a Radio Personality in Chicago for years.  In 2011 she was inducted into The Radio Hall of Fame.  Her love of music has brought her to meet many icons of music and she comes to Holly Jolly Trolley today to share some of her favorite holiday music.
